Prescription Assistance Program

Prescription Assistance Program

The 340B Drug Discount Program is managed by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) and the Office of Pharmacy Affairs (OPA). Section 340B limits the cost of covered outpatient drugs to certain federal grantees, federally-qualified health center look-alikes, and qualified disproportionate share hospitals. Participation in the program results in significant savings estimated between 20% to 50% on the cost of pharmaceuticals for safety-net providers. The purpose of the 340B Program is to enable these entities to reach more eligible patients and provide more comprehensive services.

In addition to the 340B Drug Discount Program, the medical staff at each Southeast Community Health Systems location can assist patients with Prescription Drug Assistance Programs through programs offered by various drug companies.
