Major Coleman is a highly esteemed board member of Southeast Community Health Systems since 2009, bringing a wealth of diverse experiences to the organization. With a background as a former airplane design engineer, Major's expertise is complemented by his strong dedication to community service and leadership.
He earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Southern University, further establishing his commitment to academic excellence and personal growth.
Before joining the board, Major served the community in various capacities, reflecting his deep commitment to public service. He dedicated twelve years as a Police Juror in St. Helena Parish, contributing to the well-being and safety of the area's residents. He also served as the Vice President for the Police Juror, demonstrating his ability to effectively lead and manage complex initiatives. Additionally, the governor of Louisiana appointed Major to the Commerce and Industry Board, recognizing his exceptional leadership and administrative skills.
Major Coleman's dedication to community development extends to his involvement as a board member of S.A.F.E (St. Helena Actions for Equality), a nonprofit organization he co-founded. S.A.F.E's primary mission is to raise funds for the 5th Ward Recreation District, providing essential support to recreational programs that benefit the community.
Outside of his professional commitments, Major finds joy in spending quality time with his family, cherishing the moments shared with his loved ones. He is also an active volunteer with St. Helena College and Career, particularly passionate about contributing his time and efforts to support football-related activities. In his involvement with the organization, Major embraces the role of a "get back coach," ensuring that no one ventures beyond their comfort zone or "box".
